Back again.

Contrary to popular belief (or maybe just Hageltoast spreading cruel rumours) I haven't been out and about having a life. In fact I'm not even sure what those look like anymore.

I've actually been hard at work trying to write a script for a comic that I now have to convince a friend of mine to draw.
I had this great first issue planned out, introducing a couple of the heroes, a recurring villian, fights, car chases, action, romance, danger, badgers. The works.
Eventually I had to face up to the reality that If I want to write a comic script I have only got 22 pages to work with so I was going to have to cut something out. A lot out in fact.
Then I had to face up to the fact that a comic just about badgers probably wouldn't be as popular as I may have first thought, so I went back to the original idea about superheroes and actually managed to come up with something I was quite happy with.
The story now just concentrates on the two main characters, making it much easier to follow. Now I shall have to get it typed up over the weekend so I can make a start on issue 2.

My bad news for this week came in the form of the bill for my cars service and MOT. I won't tell you how much it was, but let's just say I was glad I was sat down when they handed it to me.
In spite of now being overdrawn I have to say that the car is handling better than it has done for a while. I just have to be careful when I brake as the car stops immediately, meaning I keep stopping before I have actually made it to where I need to be.
It also smells lovely. I know that's not a particularly manly thing to discuss about a car and I should probably be prattling on about horsepower, engine size, miles to the gallon and other such things I don't have a clue about. All I am concerned about is how nice it is to be able to get in to a car that smells of peaches, rather than nappies.
Unless of course, the children have dropped a peach somewhere under a seat which is going to go off any day now.

My good news for the week is that today the post brought my tickets for The Tragically Hip gig that is coming up in September. I never expected to get a chance to see this band so I am really looking forward to this. They have never really had (or pursued) success outside of their native Canada and seem to have been content to be the biggest small town band in the world. I will have to write more about them in a later post.

For now I shall leave you with this video Xulub emailed to me.

His only comment was-

'Inevitable really.'

I'm just as surprised as you that the Hip are playing a show across the pond. They are a great band, Canadicana at its finest. :)
